1 MONTH TO GO
Written: 04 JUNE 2003

In one month I'll be on the plane on my way to the States. This had to be celabrated of course, and as 3 June was the first Tuesday in June, this was elegantly done by attending the compulsary "First-Tuesday-of-the-Month-Beercall".

The evening started with a great summer- / BBQ- / beer-party in Hangar 2 at the Air Station. As the commited Sergeant I am I contributed with a "goodbye"-case of beer. Someone shot alot of pictures that I'll try to get a hand on.

The weather was beautiful when we started
the BBQ outside Hangar 2

For those of you who are not familiar with the phenomenon, every first Tuesday of the month has been claimed beercall/branchnight for the Gardermoen area. Everyone (stupid enough to go out on a Tuesday) affiliated with anything in contact with the airport goes out to a club called "Taket" (The Roof) in Jessheim (Which is the only club I'd ever put my feet in in Jessheim). The charming thing about it is that you have to get to work the next morning!! I think originally there were mostly airhostesses and pilots out, but while I've been at Gardermoen I've met just about everything that can walk and crawl. Normally the club is jampacked on these Tuesdays, especially the dancefloor. This is by the way where I spend most of my time, basically because the girls in Jessheim are fantastically fun to dance with!

This was of course my last trip to Taket on branchnight in a while (if not for good). Some mixed feelings about that. On one hand I've never been to a place more "harry" (a Norwegian expression I don't think has a worthy equivalent in English (explanation)) than Jessheim, but on the other hand Jessheim and Taket has evolved into a phenomenon to me. I hardly think 'll find something similar in the near future!

It's a good feeling when the C-130 passes you just
over your head. This one was preformed by
Capt. Bjørn Hellum with Lt. Morten Åsli as 2P.
