STARTUP AT NAIA
Written: 09 JULY 2003

Finally the school is in session. It all started yesterday with an introductuary day taking care of some of the practical and administrative things. We got all the books covering the American curriculum, which together with the European part will require ALOT of reading the next couple of years.

Today we started ground school, which is as the word indicates, school on the ground. Here we'll learn all we have to know about airplanes. We also got assigned to our instructor who are going to help us through this program during the next 6-9 months. Me and Kristian got Anna, while Kapur and Bernt got Mauney.

The European curriculum at the bottom
the American at the top.

I don't know much about Anna yet, though we did have a short meeting by the end of the day, and it left me with good first impression. Her other students that I've talked to are all saying that she is a really good instructor who truly is caring and dedicated to helping her students. Lets hope that's true.

We got quite a bit to read already.. we've all been sitting here in the apartment now for hours reading the first chapters of the different books we've got. Not much else to do really as the temperature is just about 38 C (100 F) at the moment. Alot of the material is very general now in the beginning, but that'll soon change.

Tomorrow will be my first flight! It's going to be great! I'll finally go out and get the "feeling" in the Cessna 152! Anna has promised me to go out flying every day now. Can't wait!
