100 YEARS AFTER
Written: 17 DECEMBER 2003

17 December 1903, 10:35 local, Kitty Hawk North Carolina. The Wright Brothers lays the foundation of my entire education with a 12 second 120 feet long flight.

Today it's exactly 100 years ago. But it wasn't exactly room for me at Kitty Hawk today. The airport has been closed the last couple of days for traffic for other than the ones with a special permit, so I realised a long time ago that I didn't have much of a chance to be attending the ceremony. 35000 others did though. The ceremony included amongst other things a failed attempt on recreating the First Flight. A nasty coldfront with precipitation and strong winds screwed up too much.

This famous picture was taken
exactly 100 years ago.

I celebrated the day by going on an IFR Cross Country in the Cessna 172 RG. This was my second flight in the RG, which is in the Complex category. This because it's got Retractable Gear and Constant Speed Propeller (which I will not explain here). Me and Kristian flew each our RG with Anna and Mauney up to Raleigh where we went out to eat lunch. We stopped by a great place called Southern Season where you can get all sorts of European stuff. I left the store with a Norwegian Milk Chocolate bar and water from Voss. Fun even though I'm going home in 3 DAYS!!!

I expect to round 200 hours sometime tomorrow. On Saturday I'll board the plane headed for Norway. Continental to New York and SAS to Oslo via Stockholm. It'll be SO good!!!
