After a week of vacation with my family, reality
hit me hard last monday. Back at work with a whole
lot of work ahead of me. Last week ended up setting
a record with a total of more than 42 hours of flying.
That totals to 5 hours more than a normal workweek.
And in addition to this I did alot of work on the
ground.
My family came as earlier stated Thursday a little
over two weeks ago and left last Thursday. It seemed
that they thought the heat was a bit much, so I
guess they were satisfied about coming back home
to the more forgiving Norwegian climate. We started
my week off by going to Fort Myers, followed by
a little flight around the area here (we had planned
to go to Key West, but it isn't exactly easy to
find anyone who wants to rent me a 5 seat plane.)
Wednesday we went on a little road trip up to Kennedy
Space Center on the East Coast where we got to see
most of the things worth to see. There was supposed
to be a launch of an unmanned rocket that night,
but that got postponed. The next day we went to
Universal Studios in Orlando were we spent the entire
day before driving back to Naples. Sunday was the
4th of July here and was celebrated with a big fireworks
display down at the beach. 25 minutes long with
a grand finale. The first 23 minutes wasn't that
great, cause even though the fireworks itself was
big and nice, the composition wasn't that great.
It's monday and it's my day off, except for one
flight in an hour with my student who is doing his
checkride for the UK IMC rating (a mini Instrument
Rating) tomorrow. Bruno finished up both Instrument
and Commercial in one checkride on Thursday and
passed both! At the moment I'm working on Richards
Instrument Rating, so there is enough work here
to keep me busy. Hopefully this week will be a bit
more quiet. I rounded 500 hours on Saturday. That's a big milestone
in my career. At this pace I'll be home before I
know what hit me.
Other than that, I've reached another milestone.
11 July 2003 was my first flight at NAIA, which
makes it ONE year ago since I started this madness!

Me and my brothers outside Universal Studios in Orlando.
Even though it doesn't look like it, they had a great
time.

buildings in the world. In here the Space Shuttle
gets assembled before they roll it out to
Lauch Complex 39 (LC-39).
