Tomorrow I'll pass 600 hours total time and I'm
thereby half way to the goal I've set for my stay
here in the States. July became a record month with
a total of 125 hours of flying. This averages over
4 hours a day. If I continue at this speed, I will
reach my goal in the beginning of December. So far
I've got an average of 2,9 hours a day, and if I
keep that up I'll reach my goal in the end of February.
I'm pretty busy for the time being, but fortunately
I managed to get a whole day off today. Mondays
are normally my day off, but I normally end up working
anyways. At the moment I have 3 full time students
plus one part time student who wants to finish up
next week. I'm already fully booked next week, so
there will be enough work to keep me busy.
Last week two of my students had their first solo,
Daniele from Italy and Mike from Denmark.
Yesterday a tropical storm by the name of "Alex"
showed up outside the East coast of Florida. It
is pretty far away from us, and is moving North,
but as you might see on the satellite image, it
is bringing a lot of moisture in from the Gulf of
Mexico right on top of our heads. It started yesterday
with alot of water and wind, and today has been
pretty grey. A tropical storm is like a minihurricane,
but it is not strong enough to be classified as
a hurricane. The air is rotating counterclockwise
around lowpressures, which is the reason for the
bad weather here, despite it being so far away.
I guess this is a sing that we are moving into the
famous "Hurricane Season", so it will
be exciting to see if we'll get hit or not.
We were out having a farewell dinner with Jatin
this weekend, who was our Chief Flight Instructor
and JAA Examinor. He holds a part in a flightschool
up in Lakeland, Britannia
Flight Centre, and will be working there full
time now.
