Despite the danger of making my website look like
The Weather Channel, I feel the need to update a
bit on the hurricanes that have passed through here
the last month. We had Charley hitting us about
a month ago, causing alot of destruction north of
us.
The night to Sunday 5 September, Hurricane Frances
made its landfall in West Palm Beach on the East
coast of Florida. This hurricane was alot bigger
in dimension compared to Charley, but didn't reach
the same windstrenght. It was at the most a category
4, but was degraded to a cat 2 storm before it hit
the coast. We were quite lucky we didn't get worse
weather than we did, it even let us keep the power.
Most people has spent the past week preparing for
Hurricane Ivan, which would turn out to be quite
the massive storm. Before the weekend the forcast
projected its path to go straight through Naples,
and at the same time we learned that the pressure
inside the eye was the 6th lowest pressure ever
recorded in the States, 26.88. It wobbled between
a category 4 and 5 for a long time, but it's path
moved far more west than expected. It made its landfall
yesterday on the border between Florida and Alabama.
Other than that life moves on like normal here
in Naples. Going to work every day at 8, work til
18, home to eat dinner, surf a bit on the internet,
then go to sleep. Other than that nothing much is
happening.
I'm getting close to 750 hours now, and I'm also
closing in on 500 hours of instruction in my logbook.
For the time being I feel things are moving a bit
slow, but I still get enough hours to get by. It
looks like I'm getting two new students next week,
which would speed things up. At the moment I'm working
on getting Matthew on his first solo. English guy
who is a mechanic on the 777.

I found this picture taken when Anders went
back to Norway earlier this summer. All the
instructors gathered in front of the Seminole.
