I finally got a well-deserved ride in the sky today.
The time has passed by quickly, so the promise I
gave myself to fly once a month, I have far from
kept. Fortunately I do not have alot of theory weighing
on my shoulders anymore, so hopefully I'll be able
to get up in the air more frequently from now on.
I was supposed to fly last Tuesday,
but because of a stupid warm front, the clouds were
too low to do what we had to do, so the flight was
postponed. The weather was not at it's best this
morning either, but it was good enough to fly. I
flew with Torkel Jodalen who is an instructor in
the club. I flew the club's new PA28-181, LN-NEW.
I'm mostly used to fly old planes, so flying a beauty
like this was absolutely lovely. Some of its features
was: slaved HSI, dual GPS, autopilot and flight
director.
First we went down to Rygge so I could do some
touch and go's to get current (5 take offs and landings
within the preceding 90 days). What concerned me
the most was the radio communicaton which I worried
was different from what I'm used to in the States,
but it was close enough and didn't pose any problems.
Most of the communication here is in English, even
though Norwegian is also approved.
On the way home we stopped by Asker and Oslo before
I landed the plane back on runway 12 at Kjeller.
