WHILE WE'RE WAITING FOR...
Written: 07 OCTOBER 2005

I was supposed to start the Phase 5b training monday this week, but due to a problem with the simulator at Vigra, this was unfortunately postponed. Now it looks like I'm not going to get started until the 17th at the earliest.

Phase 5b training is the last part of the education. This phase involves one week at NEAR with simulator training in the King Air sim in Seneca mode to get ready for the flying. After a school checkride I'm being sent to Rørosfly where I'll fly to prepare myself for the final checkride. Røros is not exactly know for it's good weather, so I'll probably spend some days on the ground waiting for better weather.

In reality I've been waiting for this phase since I got the results from the ATPL exams in July. Because of lack of capacity at NEAR, they could not accept me for the final training until 3 October. Now it looks like another 2 or 3 week postponement.

I'm trying to use the days before I start to prepare myself for what awaits in Phase 5b. I am also trying to get an overview of the possibilities for work when I'm done. This has shown to be quite a time consuming project. To write applications wasn't as easy as I first thought. Other than that, I try to get up in the air every now and again.

I've posted some pictures from some of my flights this summer and autumn. So far I've only done local flights around Oslo, even though we had plans to go a but further to try to test out the Norwegian ATC.

A bit hard to see, but this is final 30 at Kjeller,
with Åråsen stadium on the right.

Trip to Rakkestad with Kapur. At the airport friends
of Kapur was waiting with refreshments.

A couple of minutes after departure from Kjeller
we are over the city of Oslo.

LN-UFP is ready for departure together with
Jesper and Rasmus.

This is over our house in Billingstad.
Rectangular house with red roof.

The Police helicopter stopped by Kjeller when
we came home from Rakkestad.

Out flying with Nils and Mads. The weather cleared
after waiting on the ground for an hour.

Oslo seen from Asker. Fornebu is in the
middle of the picture.

This L-29 (czech) is parked at Kjeller at the
moment (LN-ADA).
