START WIDERØE
Written: 11 JANUARY 2008

I've finished the first week in Widerøe, and as expected everything is well organized. Very much a different world from my previous experiences with the aviation industry. With pay during training and practically everything paid for by the company, life is pretty good here.

Kristian and I came home from Scotland on Thursday last week after having celebrated Christmas and New Years there. Sunday we flew up north to Bodø and started the company course Monday morning.

The first week has consisted mainly of introduction and the start of the techincal course on the Dash-8 (100 and 300 series). School starts 8 in the morning and finishes around 4pm, resulting in pretty long days in the classroom considering it's been a while since last time.

We are 6 pilots on the course, and the experience level streches from first commercial job to F-16 pilot.

The course is finished in mid February, with every weekend off. Next on the program is a day as an observer on the jumpseat following the day-to-day routines, followed by the simulator training at Gardermoen. After completed skill test I'll start the line training (flying with training captains on normal passenger carrying flights) before I get released to normal operations.

Everything was nicely lined up on my desk when I arrived. We also got a laptop each for loan during the course
