4 YEARS AT WIDERØE

Yesterday was my 4 year anniversary at Widerøe. 4 years since I started the first officer course in Bodø in preperation for the Dash-8 type rating. The day went by without further ceremony, but when I show up for work on Wednesday I will have an extra set of stripes on my shoulders. Other than this little detail, not much is different.

Q400 Pilot

I've actually been released for a little while now. I finished the final release in May, and have flown two weeks on the Q400 on line since then. It's a wonderful aircraft to fly as it has alot more power compared to weight than I've been used to so far. The glass cockpit is a pleasure to work in, as the screens provide the information you need easily without your eyes and fingers having to jump around too much.

Q400 course

I've finally started the required training needed for me to fly the Q400 version of the Dash-8. The plane has 78 seats, more than double the power compared to the 300 and equipped with a wonderful glass cockpit. Widerøe has a total of 7 of these in the fleet which mostly fly out of Torp and Bergen.

Merry Christmas

After almost four months based in Bergen on the West coast of Norway, I can't say I miss the communting to northern Norway. We have also moved from Oslo to Bergen, which means I no longer commute at all. Living where I'm based is a whole new life compared to commuting, as I can be home on standby and don't have to be away for one week at the time.
